Light Heart Foundation Calendar of Events

January to February: Valentines and Animals on Parade

Light Heart has it’s annual “Animals on Parade and Valentines Day stuffy collection. Many Elders in facilities love cuddling up to a favorite stuffy. Most of the time these special possessions receive so much love and hugs that they get worn and torn in a matter of months. This is a great time to drop off new stuffed animals or cloth dolls any size, shape and color. Those that sing or say something are especially wonderful.

Maybe you have a Beanie Baby Collection or stuffed animals for many other holiday’s or special events that take place during the year? Please call and come in to share your stories because we have a home and someone to love and care for them?

March to May: Spring into Caring ~ Spring Baskets Delivery

It is difficult for the seniors to get out and shop for many little things they might like to have so these beautiful and brightly decorated baskets are sponsored and delivered by various groups organizations and business’s in the community.

Spring and Ongoing: Gardens of Good Wishes and Seasonal Events

Most of these planting and gardening projects are designed to be an intergenerational opportunity for the seniors and youth to interact and work together with the facilities, community business groups and organizations.

Some of the features we consider are for the planting areas and paths to be wheelchair assessable including the use of water features such as fountains and waterfalls. Gazebos and shaded areas are also considered in the design to bring an inviting respite with sitting areas for the residents and staff and family members to interact.

September: Grandparent / Elder Awareness Month

Our community mayors have signed Proclamations honoring our Elders! You can too!

Send a Note ….Give A Hug….Visit them….Send Flowers…
Give a Smile…Call Them

So many of our Elders are sitting alone and waiting for a call and a kind word from someone who appreciates them for what they have done. These are the same people who fought for our country, build and financially supported our communities, provided for us in our youth and created programs we are benefiting from today. You can help make a difference in their lives and maybe your own.

Business Owners can join in by recognizing your senior customers through: Service or product discounts, Special giveaways or sponsor special outings for seniors. You can join in by Sponsoring: A group of 10 or more Seniors and Youth Visitors, A special outing, Entertainment, Ice Cream Social, Theater, Musical Event, Breakfast, Lunch…?
