Assessing Communities

Light Heart believes that in order for a community to appropriately address its challenges and social issues, it must have regular, accurate and properly conducted assessments of its members.

The assessment tools should be created, implemented and evaluated in terms consistent with Asset Based Community Development principles. They would incorporate culturally and generationally sensitive language and questions that empower the persons or organizations who are being surveyed.

Services and programs would be analyzed in terms of real community impact, long-term sustainability and effective use of the strengths and assets of each recipient.
